Liberty Wreath

This quilt has been in many family homes since it was made by Great-aunt Gladys Myrtle Laird Rice (1897-1995), date unknown but I can tell you it is old enough to not have been made with bonded batting. The quilt has been gently loved by evidence of the wear on the fabric and the stretching of the outer borders.

The sashing and cornerstones within the quilt and on the inner borders and outers borders are constructed with overly saturated fabrics (when compared to the hand embroidery) which makes obtaining a good photograph difficult.

I wish I could ask Aunt Glad what the significance of the blue and red borders and why only 3 sides of the quilt has two borders.

This quilt measures 62 inches by 84 inches
