Hi! My name is Lauana Oliver Gillman, the creator and curator of the designs you see here. I consider myself very fortunate to have learned how to sew over forty years ago by my first mentor, my Mother. As the oldest daughter, I spent many evenings at the kitchen table long after dinner was finished, watching her create wearable art and home goods. On spring she created 4 matchings ‘patchwork’ skirts for herself and her daughters out of fabric salvaged from recycled clothing. Her tools? A Bic ink pen and cereal box templates, each square individually cut.

Later I would find that the years I spent constructing throw pillows, curtians, and simple clothing items were only a prelude to my ultimate dream of living in a home filled with quilts. A visual reminder of the intersection between past histories and present moments and the connection of warmth, family and love.
