This on point Nordic Star Quilt Block was a fun Half Square Triangle project that utilized a rather small pieces of 1920’s reproduction stash fabrics. Experimenting with a three color sashing and cornerstone blocks I wanted to create a secondary focal point where the quilt blocks met…..which created a secondary problem. When using a three color sash some quilt blocks are framed in one color, some framed in another color. To uniform the design, a ‘stitch and flip’ technique was used on the corner of the quilt blocks corresponding with the sashing.

The edge of the quilt was filled with half quilt blocks which resulted in quarter quilt blocks being placed at the corner. Overall, the three color sashing gave the illusion of blocks framed alternatively in light green and dark green.

This quilt measures 80 inches by 96 inches. Circa 2019
