I have become a little more confident with tearing out blocks and rows on quilts after they are finished and before they are sent to the machine quilter…in this case I did not like the center block of this Block of the Month project offered by American Quilting. The middle image was the original 12” by 12” center block of the medallion quilt which seemed to have too much negative space. On the bottom the redesigned block was constructed of lime, apple, and beige fabrics found in my stash.

I added a 6 inch border to the quilt inspired by April Rosenthal’s pattern Midnight Medallion, and used edge to edge basket weaved machine quilting by Lacie Messerly.

This quilt measures 66 inches by 66 inches. -Circa 2023
